Karen Smith

Karen Smith made her debut as a 17 year old for the Hockeyroos. Karen or “Rowdy” was a determined attacking midfielder and was the youngest Australian player to play 100 international test matches for her country at the age of 21.

Karen played 271 tests for Australia, the third highest capped Hockeyroo of all time. She scored 49 goals for her country and was known for her consistency, work ethic and skillful play.

Karen’s major achievements include:

  • 1998 World Cup Gold Medalist
  • 2002 World Cup
  • 2006 World Cup Silver Medalist
  • 2002 Commonwealth Games – Bronze Medalist
  • 2006 Commonwealth Games – Gold Medalist
